Tuesday/Thursday – 4th/6th August, 1998. We walked into town on Tuesday morning and found a nice clean and tidy city. We had our tuk-tuk tour of the town and found the ‘Bar Area’ on Jedyod Road where all the Aliens go. We also found “Baan Bua Guest House” there and we generally had a quiet and restful day meeting the locals and enjoying ourselves!

On Wednesday 5th we moved from the “Ruentip Hotel” to “Baan Bua Guest House” in the morning and got a very nice big room for 180 baht with hot water. The guest house is down a lane off Jedyod road, so it’s quiet and has a lovely & peaceful garden. At lunchtime we met the local Aliens at “Tossers” and “New Moon” pubs. Good food here especially breakfast. We met many local Aliens and received a great welcome from everyone. We liked Chiang Rai and are looking forward to returning, after we reach Mae Sai in the next couple of days:
