Monday, 25th May 1998 we left ‘Racha Mansion’ in Nonthaburi before dawn and the dust was nearly unbearable. William knew the way and a short cut to Don Muang. We passed Bangkok Water Authority, and the headquarters of the CAT and TOT. The CAT Gardens facing the road were magnificent. We got on to Viphavadee Rangsit Road and were now going north towards the Bangkok International Airport by walking on the right hand side (RHS) of the road facing the oncoming traffic. The footpath ended at the entrance to the cargo terminal. We walked through the cargo facility and no security guard stopped us. Then we entered the Domestic Terminal and walked across the new bridge to International. The air con was lovely! We walked as though we owned the place and crossed the footbridge over the highway and railway lines into Don Muang Town. William was Home!

We headed, from the market, for ‘Don Muang Mansion’ where William knew the Owner. William got a great welcome from the boss and his family and we got a large double room on the top floor for 50% discount – baht 600. We had a great view of the Temple, Airport, Town and the Bangkok Skyline, in the far distance south – Just. We arrived at 14.00 hrs and did our laundry, then went to find William’s mates who all live close by and work at the airport. Word soon got round that William was at The Mansion in Room 570 and our first visitors showed up at 18.00 hrs to show us our story published on 26th May 1998, in the Thai ‘Daily News’. We slept at 22.00 hrs.

Tuesday/Friday - 26th May/29th May 1998, we had an enjoyable break in Don Muang…

Our ’walking distance’ to Don Muang Town from Padang Besar for Dennis, was 1,577 Kms from Padang Besar and for William, was 1,202 Kms from Krabi Town. We are “The World Champion Walkers” in Thailand.

KEEP WALKING!
