FAQ

Here are some questions we have received and the answers:

Q. This is big news and comes none too soon. The BBC announced today that the Thai Bhat has fallen to a new low as has the value of the Malaysian and Indonesian markets. What do you think?

A. True. It's bad news for Thailand and SE Asia. Worse to come we think.

Q. Where does he plan to stay along the way?

A. He is not concerned. The Wats will accommodate him if necessary, anyway.

Q. How will he keep himself alive?

A. He can look after himself, of course, but he will undoubtedly be fed, clothed, housed and looked after by the Thais should the need arise.

Q. Is he just taking a ruck sack and a smile?

A. Yes, and maybe a digital camera that records onto 3.5" floppies, so he can post them to me.

Q. Are you worried?

A. No. Although I shall miss him. We have been friends for a long time. I'd hoped he would go and live in Songkhla, within easy reach, but this way he'll be gone for a long time.

Q. I understand he has been doing quite a bit of walking since his accident but he's been ending up at home come dark, this sounds somewhat different?

A. He thinks he is more than fit enough.

Q. Is it possible to rely on the kindness of strangers in Thailand?

A. Yes, definitely.

Q. Are donations being sought or accepted?

A. Not directly. Dennis wishes to remain apart from the actual financial considerations. Anyone wishing to help should donate directly to Thailand.

Q. Where do we make a donation?

A. There has been talk about setting up a Thailand Recovery Fund and National Income Bonds. They may be available now.

Q. OK, if he is actually doing this then I wish him God's speed, may the wind be at his back and sunshine on his shoulder.

A. There won't be much wind and there WILL be a lot of sunshine, but he's used to it.

Thailand has had a long history of success as a 'Tiger Cub Economy' and their present difficulties have come as quite a shock to a lot of the Thais. He hopes that he can help them get back some of their confidence in their own future.
